"Doc," as she is affectionately known, has made it her life mission to break down barriers so young people can obtain a solid education that leads to meaningful employment. As founder and director of the Provisional Accelerated Learning (PAL) Center and Charter Academy in San Bernardino, Dr. Henry has provided educational and employment opportunities for countless citizens in the community.
Dr. Henry's personal experiences growing up in the segregated south, where she picked cotton, milked cows, and attended inferior public schools, played a vital role in shaping her educational philosophy. These experiences gave her the determination to overcome the stigma that she was "never gonna mount to nothing no how."
Dr. Mildred Dalton Henry's life has been guided by a powerful motto: "Dare to do the impossible". And, she has done just that.
